The Power-Series is the latest addition to Zero-Max’s leading Composite Disc Coupling (CD® Coupling) offering. The Power-Series compliments the traditional line of CD Couplings with a design that provides higher torque density - more torque capacity in a smaller package - while also taking advantage of the field-proven benefits of our composite disc technology. Applications that require higher shaft misalignment capacity will still benefit from the traditional line of CD Couplings.
The Power-Series single-flex Composite Disc Couplings deliver the highest torsional stiffness of all CD Couplings, high precision, and durable high-speed operation in demanding servo motor driven applications. Although the single-flex design provides the most limited parallel shaft misalignment (similar to metal disc couplings), these compact flexible shaft couplings feature predictable high quality, servo-rated performance, zero backlash operation, multiple hub options, and they eliminate issues related to fretting and fatigue corrossion often seen with metal disc couplings. Which Hub Style Should I Choose?
The preferred hub style depends on the application, space envelope, and personal preference. Clamping hubs are most often chosen for their simple connection and because they do not damage the shaft they are attaching to. By engaging the entire circumference of the shaft, they also provide a strong connection. Zero-Max clamp hubs are suitable for use on shafts with or without keyways, although keyways are often recommended for maximum torque capacity (see transmittable torque capacity charts). Zero-Max offers both a single-piece (integral) clamping hub as well as a two-piece (split) clamping hub for larger bore options and easier installation. Shrink-Disc hubs can be chosen if needed for higher torque transmission on keyless shafts or if axial installation fasteners are required. Shrink-Disc hubs provide a uniform design and clamping force promoting smooth operation at high speeds.
The Power-Series comes standard with an option for an Adaptor Mount Hub that is compatible with ISO 9409-1 mounting standards and provides easy connection to many flanged gear reducers, motors, robotic equipment, etc. - providing an integrated attachment solution. Zero-Max also offers a standard Flange Hub that can be attached to specific system outputs for the most compact solution possible.
