The “No Surprises Act”zero-max logo

The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (CAA) created the “No Surprises Act” which is intended to protect participants, beneficiaries, and enrollees in group health plans (and group and individual health insurance coverage) from “surprise” balance billing when they receive specified emergency care (generally from out-of-network providers or facilities). Transparency in Coverage Rule

Health insurers are required to publicly display certain health care price information on their websites beginning in 2022. These files will include negotiated rates with in-network providers, allowed amounts for out-of-network providers and may include prescription-drug pricing. This rule is a historic step toward putting health care price information in the hands of consumers and other stakeholders, advancing the goal to ensure consumers are empowered with the critical information they need to make informed health care decisions.
