This will show you
how to calculate the working life of the Model 500 Overhung Load Adaptor
in your application.
If you wish,
you can use the Sizing
Software which will take your information and automatically suggest
the correct Overhung Load Adaptor and will calculate its life expectancy.
The working life
of a Model 500 Overhung Load Adaptor is equal to the life span - in
hours - of its premium quality roller bearings.
1-
Caculate the overhung load (OHL).
If you have not already done this, click
here to jump to that calculation
2- Calculate the factor "S"
with the following equation:
S=.704X
+ 1.930
Where X = the distance from the front end of the
OHLA housing to the applied radial load
3- Caclulate your Hrs. Working Life with
this equation:

This formula is
for radial loading only. Consult factory if more complex loading (Radial,
Axial,Tangential) is present.
Remember that this
formula yields an estimated life span which is defined as the period
during which 90% of a group of bearings will operate under identical
conditions with adequate lubrication.

OVERHUNG
LOAD CALCULATION
This will show
you how to calculate the Overhung Load (lbs) for your application.
Use
the following formula, incorporating your shaft RPM, horsepower, etc.:
HP
= Transmitted Horsepower
N = RPM of Shaft
R = Radius of sprocket, pulley, etc. in inches
F = Load connection factor
| F
- load Connection Factor |
| 1.00 - |
Single Chain Drives |
| 1.10 - |
Timing Belt Drives |
| 1.25 - |
Spur or Helical
Gear Drives or Double Chain Drives |
| 1.50 - |
V-Belt Drives |
| 2.50 - |
Flat Belt Drives |
